Koelle Simpson is a rare individual. She was unequaled as an instructor while here on Flag Is Up Farms. I have virtually no prior experience with horses, but working with Koelle and her four-footed colleagues felt more than safe to me--in fact, it was almost like an especially benevolent sort of magic. Before I met Koelle, I loved animals and enjoyed spending time with them. But I never realized how a relationship with a horse could help me better understand
myself, my family, and my work.
Then, for 3 hours, I was immersed in a world where communication was nonverbal,
where trust was an experience, where separation was a pathway to bonding, and
where the thrill of watching a strong horse run became a moment of personal
power and freedom. It's hard to describe just how much fun it is to learn the
language of horse whispering, but it's even harder to describe just how much
that same language can become one's own. It was fantastic and has stayed with

Beyond the personal fulfillment and the deepened connection to my wife and
children, Koelle's experiences exposed me to patterns of communication that
previously, I had only understood in a bookish kind of way. Now, when I see a

answers, I remember Koelle's advice. And when I am with a colleague who has
taken risks and found a confidence in me based on my willingness to let go, I
hear Koelle again. It is a wonder that such a short time with a powerful horse
could leave me with so much insight about human behavior, team work, and trust.
In the end, I left my day as a horse whisperer with one overwhelming
conclusion: it changed me. If I were asked for advice about considering the
experience, it would be easy to give: Go! Just go!
